The Pig Farm Maintenance Fitter is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of feeder installations, water installations, and feed mills at a pig farm. This role ensures the continuous and efficient operation of all systems and equipment, contributing to the overall productivity and safety of the farm.
Key Responsibilities:
Feeder Installation Maintenance:
Perform routine inspections and maintenance of automatic feeding systems.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in feeders.
Replace or repair faulty components such as motors, sensors, and control units.
Ensure feeders are calibrated and functioning efficiently to minimize waste and ensure proper nutrition delivery.
Water Installation Maintenance:
Conduct regular checks and maintenance on water supply systems.
Fix leaks, replace pipes, and ensure proper water flow to all areas of the farm.
Inspect and repair water pumps, valves, and filtration systems.
Maintain water quality standards and ensure systems are compliant with health and safety regulations.
Feed Mill Maintenance:
Maintain and repair feed mill machinery and equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues within the feed mill operations.
Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure continuous operation of the feed mill.
General Maintenance:
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and efficiency.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in mechanics, electrical, or a related field preferred.
Proven experience as a maintenance mechanic and electrician, preferably in an agricultural or industrial setting.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Proficient in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery related to feeder, water, and milling systems.
